Jean Schloesing est prisonnier de guerre dans un OFLAG au nord de l`Allemagne. Comme tout officier, son devoir est de chercher à s’évader, c’est aussi son désir. Servi par des avantages personnels, il décide de le faire tout seul, et élabore son plan, aidé dans sa préparation par ses camarades. Son histoire est constituée de deux parties : les préparatifs pleins d’idées « géniales », puis le voyage angoissant et épuisant jusqu’à Avignon.
Jean Schloesing was a prisoner of war in an OFLAG (a POW camp for officers) in northern Germany. Like any officer, his duty was to attempt to escape; it was also his ambition. Blessed with certain personal advantages, he decided to escape alone, and developed a plan with the help of his comrades. His story is in two parts: the preparations full of "brilliant" ideas, then the agonizing and exhausting journey all the way to Avignon.
