Seventy kilometres south of Calais is an upmarket coastal resort that is one of the most attractive tourist destinations of the Pas de Calais area. Its spectacular rise began towards the end of the 19th century when an English businessman in love with the area launched a development project that marked the start of a spectacular expansion. Le Touquet rapidly forged its global reputation as a destination for high society and a beacon of elegance. Stunning villas, a casino and no less than 32 luxury hotels attracted visitors from all over the world, including King Farouk [of Egypt]. This presentation will aim to show off both the resort’s former and enduring splendour.
