With the Armistice in 1940, France saw the beginning of occupation, collaboration and the arrival of a new order. The country was divided, both geographically and according to the ideology of the regime. There was opposition between the supporters of Pétain and those of de Gaulle. There was the development of the Resistance movement, and the frictions between its various factions. It was a turbulent period that is still very much alive in memory.
