En puisant dans la biographie de l’homme et en résumant les moments forts de sa carrière de chanteur, cette conférence, illustrée de nombreuses photos et de quelques extraits de chansons, cherchera à expliquer pourquoi Johnny est devenu si populaire en France et dans quelle mesure il peut être considéré comme un mythe français.
From his controversial debut at the end of the 1950s to the popular tribute paid to him at his death in December 2017, it is often said that Johnny provided the soundtrack to French society for nearly sixty years. Taking elements from his life story and summarising the significant points in his career as a singer, this talk, illustrated with numerous photos and some extracts from his songs, will attempt to explain why Johnny became so popular in France and to what extent he can be considered a mythical French figure.
