Chopin est le compositeur romantique par excellence : génie romantique, maladif, contradictoire et emblématique, inspiré autant des danses populaires polonaises de sa patrie, que du lyrisme romantique du Bel Canto italien et de l’atmosphère raffinée des salons artistiques de la haute société parisienne. Chopin ne parle pas beaucoup de ses propres œuvres, mais nous avons par contre de nombreux témoignages de son cercle d’amis qui font allusion à sa musique, sa vie et son esthétique. De George Sand à Franz Liszt, de ses élèves de piano aux évocations de Proust, nous découvrons dans ce concert-conférence, l’influence immense de ce compositeur. Au travers de sa musique et de ces textes, Emilie Capulet nous emmène de Varsovie à Paris, au fil de la vie tumultueuse et tragique d’un des plus grands pianistes du 19e siècle.

Chopin, romantic composer par excellence: a romantic genius, sickly, contradictory, emblematic, inspired as much by the Polish folk dances of his homeland, as by the romantic lyricism of the Italian Bel Canto and the refined atmosphere of the artistic salons of Parisian high society. Chopin did not talk much about his own works; however, we do have many testimonies from his circle of friends that allude to his music, his life and his aesthetics. From George Sand to Franz Liszt, from his piano students to evocations by Proust, we discover in this presentation-performance the immense influence of this composer. Through music and texts, Emilie Capulet takes us from Warsaw to Paris, evoking the tumultuous and tragic life of one of the greatest pianists of the 19th century.
